Coaches

Here are the coaches of the Windy City Hammers.

Coach Billy

Coach Billy Poole-Harris started the Windy City Hammers in 2012.  Billy is now has left Chicago and is currently coaching at Marist College in New York.

Coach Dobrin

Stefanie Dobrin is currently the Head Boys and Girls Cross country and Track and Field Coach at Lincoln Park High School and high school Math teacher at DePaul College Prep. She is in her 22nd year teaching and coaching.  In 19 out of her 22 previous years, one or more athletes competed at the Illinois State Track and Field meet.  During high school, she ran cross country and track.

She obtained her degree from Indiana University in Mathematics in Education.  Her student teaching was down in Bloomfield, where she also helped coach the Girls Track and Field team. In 2007, Stefanie earned her master’s degree in Technology in Education at National-Louis University.  In 2017, she completed her 2nd masters in Middle school Math and Special Education. She is a Level 1 and 2 USATF coach.

Coach Wallace

Phillip Wallace is currently the head Track and Field coach for the girls at Whitney Young High School.  In 2022, Coach Wallace’s girls won the State 3A track and field meet. In 2024, his girls finished 2nd place.

Before joining the Hammers, Coach Wallace coached the Striders.  The Striders competed in multiple USATF Junior Olympic Nationals.  He has had All Americans during his coaching duration.

Coach Cooper

Jason Cooper is the head Girls Track and Field coach and teachers Math at South Shore International High School. Coach Cooper just joined us in the 2018 season. He has qualified many athletes to the 2A state championships for track and field, including a State champion in the 100 hurdles. His girls help our 4×400 team become All-Americans. His team placed 3rd in the 2024 Track and field season.

 

Coach Vlad

Vlad Stankov coaches at Whitney Young with the Academic center cross country and track and field. He also helps with the high school teams as well.  Before joining Whitney Young he coached soccer, cross country and track and field at Lincoln Elementary School.  He joined us in 2019 and has helped our younger athletes grow.
