
Summer Wrap up
We had an amazing summer for our 10th year! We had around 150 athletes training with us and had around 100 athletes competing at the meets throughout the summer.
We finished the season in Sacramento at the USATF Junior Olympic Nationals this past week. Monday and Tuesday most of our athletes flew in from Chicago. We had 49 athletes compete throughout the week.
We started Wednesday with our first All American, Christina Jordan. She finished 7th in 17-18 girls High Jump at 1.55m(5’1″). On Thursday, the morning started off with the 17-18 girls Long Jump and we ended up with 2 more All Americans. Madison Saunders finished 4th with a jump of 5.59m(18’4″) and Shakayla Riggins finished 8th with a jump of 5.4m(17’8.5″). Next up was Friday, where Madison got another All American medal for Triple Jump this time. She finished 4th again, jumping 12.12m(39’9″).
Saturday started with the finals of the 17-18 girls 200 with Asia Thomas. She finished 7th as an All American with a time of 25.04. She then came back to become a National Champion with Jayden Eickoff-Brown, Madison Saunders and Sydney Weaver in the 17-18 girls 4×100 with a time of 45.93. Our “B” team of Madison Hardamon, Symone Frison, Rikki Gray and Hana Ling also finished as All Americans finishing 6th place with a time of 47.3. Our 15-16 girls 4×100 also were All Americans finishing 6th in their race with a time of 48.18. These athletes were Layla Lerus, Mia Seaton, Angelena Bullocks and Kee’Lani Whitlock.
Our final day was Sunday. We had more success with some All Americans. It started with Asia becoming All American again. This time finishing 7th for the 17-18 girls 400 with a time of 57.96. Next up was the 17-18 girls 100 hurdle finals where Kennedy Ross finished as an All American in 6th place with a time of 14.75. Then we had the 17-18 girls 100 finals, where Symone Frison finished 8th place as an All American with a time of 12.52. To wrap up the week, our 17-18 girls 4×400 team of Jayden Eickoff-Brown, Rikki Gray, Asia Thomas and Madison Hardamon became National Champions with a time of 3:44.04.
